I painted this scene of a working dog and its handler in a sunny city park. I was drawn to the subtle contrast between the handler's focused presence and the dog's very natural, unselfconscious moment. I wanted to capture the quiet dignity of their partnership, the bright greens of the grass holding this brief, candid reality. It speaks to the blend of discipline and everyday life that I find so compelling.
